Karunya Students Chapel

St. Thomas Student’s Chapel is a church with dynamic vision, empowering students throughout the academic tenure. The chapel services are held every Sunday and it provides an opportunity to gather and worship as a family and has motivated and organised students and resources for God’s mission, venturing into wider ecumenical relations to witness Lord Jesus Christ.

The foundation stone of CSI St. Thomas Student’s chapel or C.S.I. Bicentenary Student’s Center was laid on August 14, 2015 and the dedication was on August 31, 2016 by Rt. Rev. Thomas K. Oommen the then C.S.I Deputy Moderator and Bishop of C.S.I. Madhya Kerala Diocese with the esteemed presence of Rt. Rev. Timothy Ravinder, Bishop of C.S.I. Coimbatore Diocese. The church is sited in Karunya Nagar, not far from the college.

The chapel is a classic example of simplicity and one must visit this to experience the inner beauty and peace. The beautiful glass paintings, the wooden carving on the doors and paneling imparts a unique beauty to the chapel. The cross in the church that showcases the death of Jesus on Lord’s table maintains the sanctity of the church. The chapel is not a mere architectural structure but a living functioning church. It is a moving experience to see the evidence of Christian faith in this place.

We uphold the vision of CSI and its motto “That they all may be one, and that the world may believe that you have sent me,” to become an effective instrument of God’s mission.

Events, activities and cultural programmes especially Christmas programmes are the highlights of this church as students gather together for practices and church decorations every evening. As the epitome and symbol of Christian love and fellowship the rapport and fellowship among the students strengthen the bond. Here the students too get opportunities to be a part of church sermons, prayers and activities. The acoustics of the chapel make speech and song a joy to the ear. The present batch strives hard to uphold this heritage and hand it over to the posterity.
